WinZip is a straightforward zipping and unzipping utility that includes built-in support for popular Internet file formats such as TAR, ZIP, UUencode, XXencode, BinHex, MIME, and Unix-compressed files. ARJ, LZH, and ARC files are supported via external programs. An optional wizard simplifies unzipping and installing software in ZIP files. Version 8.0 comes with the following new features: 1. Instant email, which compresses one or more files, then attaches the compressed files to a blank message in your email client. 2. An enhanced WinZip wizard that allows you to create and update ZIP files and extract and install from MIME and similarly encoded files. 3. An enhanced Classic interface that is more like Windows (an Explorer-style toolbar is available). 4. WinZip now automatically installs Windows desktop themes and screensavers that it has extracted. You can easily choose between Classic or Wizard interfaces. The Classic interface is geared toward the more experienced user, while the Wizard interface can accomodate novices because it's ability to complete most of the work automatically.
