Pros: When a file is deleted in Windows the file data is not actually erased. The blocks of data are just marked deleted. Thus it is possible to recover data. This utility restores deleted files from hard disk. FineRecovery uses a fast engine to quickly scan your PC for deleted files and get the files back to life. If you need to undelete files, recover important data from crashed or corrupted disk drives and the cost of a data recovery center cannot be justified, this may be the solution needed. It could recover deleted files & folders from corrupt, deleted, damaged NTFS partitions. This application helps recover lost files even when without recycle bin, or when recycle bin has been emptied, removed by virus attack or power failure and when the partition structure on a hard disk was changed or damaged.
The very easy to use interface has several useful features it can be set for different languages. Standard Windows explorer like interface ensures users can be productive right away. NTFS and NTFS5 files systems as created by Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista are supported and can recover data on damaged or deleted partitions and alternative data streams. File names in localized languages are recognized. All files and directories in a device are scanned using a non-destructive, read only approach. Thereby the application never writes or modifies sections/blocks/sectors of the drive from where data is being recovered. It also avoids bad sector areas. The program supports IDE/ATA and SCSI drives and can operated from a USB dongle. It can work with drives bigger than 1 TB in capacity.
Cons: Depending on how long the drive was in use, in case of deleted files, parts of it may get used and thus cannot be recovered. Since the allocations are random, larger the disk, smaller the probability of this happening.
