VSPE is intended to help software engineers and developers to create/debug/test applications that use serial ports. It is able to create various virtual devices to transmit/receive data, share physical serial port data for several apps, and so on.
Features: VSPE is intended to help software engineers and developers working with serial port of the machine. When you want to create/debug/test applications that use serial ports, this could be a handy utility. What it does is provide the developer with the capability to open several virtual serial devices that can accept data or send data from/to the test application. The same device can be opened more than once. Just that one port can now be shared between several programs. Creating virtual pipes also is easy with the utility. Communications through the serial port to local network (via TCP protocol) can be started.
The features available in the application lets you create several things for the virtual devices you create. Create connector, data splitter for the virtual device and even a device pair. TCP server, TCP client, UDP manager, a bridge, serial redirector etc in the user mode devices can be created easily. Data monitoring is possible. The application also provides a Python scripting system. It has a mapper functionality. Both the 32 and 64 bit versions of the x86 architecture are supported. There`s even an embedded HTTP/web server available for use. All the functionalities are available via an API for developers. The utility is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista as well as Windows 7.
Overall: Quite a handy utility for developers that uses the serial port.
