HSLAB HTTP Monitor is a handy real-time performance monitoring and statistics analysis software application for Apache servers, which are used ubiquitously in the web hosting industry.
Pros: Apache servers are a popular web server these days. Having implemented a web site on one such server it is essential that you are able to monitor HTTP traffic to and fro the site to determine if any problems exist in the site design or enough resources has been allocated. This application is one such monitoring tool specifically built for Apache servers. With HSLAB HTTP Monitor, administrators always know who is currently connected, server operations distribution, amount of bandwidth being consumed, and number of server requests per unit of time. Since software is server independent, server running on Apache may be located thousands of miles away from where program is installed. Software shows all virtual servers being hosted, statistics for them, and what files or documents are being accessed. With HSLAB monitoring system administrators always know who is currently connected via connection tree, server operations distribution, amount of bandwidth being consumed, number of server requests per unit of time and other important server parameters. Being server independent, the monitor client can be located away from the site and yet real time monitoring of history and statistics can be continued easily. The application is able to show all virtual servers being hosted, what files and documents are being accessed and collected statistics. You can create a profile for a specific virtual server. A server profile is a stored set of settings for the server that you can activate immediately. Server profiles allow you to have different settings either for different servers or for one and the same server. It allows you to manage server settings quickly and flexibly.
Cons: While the collection of stats is quite good real time monitoring of some of the performance parameters would have been really nice. How’s the bandwidth being used, memory resources in use, how’s the response times changing etc for example.
Overall this is surely 4 stars.
