Pros: Accurate Monitor for Search Engines is a tool to find out ranking of sites for a given keyword. As search optimization techniques are applied one would like to track if improvement in rankings are happening and tune the techniques accordingly. This application can do scheduled search automatically everyday, collect data and present the statistics graphically too.
The set of search engines on which the keyword search is to be made can be specified out of a total of 250 odd search engines available in various countries. This list is getting updated continuously and fresh engines get added often. It is thus possible to get a very wide-angle view of the position of a particular site for a given key word or phrase. Additionally as the results are listed, the monitor lists also the notes and descriptions against each listing item, as it appears on the search result listing of say Google. This, rather than just the URL, provides valuable clues to why a particular site ranks high and by contrast what the target site lacks. Most users of search engines go through these descriptions to decide to click on a link rather than just the top ranks. Results of paid listings also indicate very clearly if the PPC campaign is working for you. Variations of keywords and phrases can be auto generated to check further the effects on the search results.
As statistics is collected over time, one could get trend reports that indicate how the ranking gained or lost positions over a particular time period. These reports/results can be easily exported to any other applications. It uses the simple and common CSV format to do that.
Cons: The user interface has something simple yet very useful feature missing. When you mouse over icons in the toolbar it is more or less a standard that short labels should identify what the specific icon does do. This application does not have that and quite likely to irritate first time users as everybody has come to expect this. It certainly makes learning that much longer. The interface is cryptic.
